End of Year Reflection

End of Year Reflection

Although the stress and uncertainty of COVID continues, 2021 has been a very busy & positive year for team Hannan with several new clients and projects. We are as ever very thankful for the high level of repeat business we receive and the many interesting projects we are involved with.

But none of this could be possible without the continued hard work and commitment of our team.

It has been a pleasure working with you during the last year – we truly value the relationships and enjoy the challenges we face as part of the many teams we are a part of.

Instead of sending Christmas cards & gifts this year we have donated money to the charities mentioned below Salford FoodbankWirral ArkShelter UK

We would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas & Happy New Year and we look forward to seeing you in 2022!!

Supporting Girls Football in Stockport

Supporting Girls Football in Stockport

Hannan Associates are very happy to be supporting Stockport Vikings FC under 12’s Pumas girls football team, by contributing towards the team’s kit alongside Dunelm. The girls now really look the part on matchdays and at training.

Stockport Vikings formed the under 12’s Pumas team this season following the success of the Weetabix Wildcats drop in sessions at Priestnall Sports centre in Heaton Mersey.

The girls, managed by volunteer dad’s Pete Scrivener and Pete Kellett, now play in the Cheshire Girls Football League (Stockport Division)  and are really enjoying themselves playing football and developing new friendships.  We have new players joining all the time.

One of our Principal Engineers, Shaun Wilkinson, is involved in running Stockport Vikings FC and said….

We decided to expand our teams set up a couple of years ago, by venturing into girls only football teams by starting a Wildcats football centre,  which is an FA initiative to get more girls into football. The initiative is now supported by Weetabix Wildcats and is a great thing to be a part of.  We also have an U10’s Pumas team and are now looking to create a new U8’s Pumas from this year’s group.

Running a successful football club like Stockport Vikings FC with over 20 teams, takes a lot of time, effort and expense.  As well as great support form all our parents, Sponsorship support from companies like Hannan Associates and Dunelm is a key part of our success and is very much appreciated.”

DfP Framework Officially Launched

DfP Framework Officially Launched

New office developments and refurbishment projects in the UK will now be able to officially register their schemes under the Design for Performance framework.

The Design for Performance initiative was devised by The Better Buildings Partnership alongside the highly successful Australian NABERS programme to help close the well-known ‘energy performance gap.’ The framework provides the UK with an approach to office building design based on measurable performance outcomes rather than solely using design based criteria to assess a building’s impact.

Once a project signs a Design for Performance Agreement and sets a target NABERS Energy rating they can then promote their target rating to investors and occupiers, demonstrating the project’s commitment to sustainability and net zero carbon targets. The project is then required to be designed to meet the proposed energy rating targets using advanced simulation modelling.

The launch of NABERS UK and DFP comes at a critical time, as the built environment comes under increasing pressure to meet net zero carbon targets.

As part of our role as Building Services Engineers we have been increasingly helping clients design office buildings which will target a NABERS UK Energy Rating & UK Green Building Council (UKGBC) Net Zero Carbon targets by undertaking Design for Performance standard advanced simulation modelling during the design process.

We are very proud to be working as part of Legal & General Investment Management’s team for the design of the Ralli Quays office and hotel scheme in Salford. This project is one of the 14 office developments in the UK which have been pioneering the Design for Performance initiative.

Valette Square Homes Now Complete

Valette Square Homes Now Complete

Hannan Associates are very proud to have been a part of the team to design and deliver Salford Central’s latest residential property development, Valette Square.

The recently completed Valette Square was delivered by The English Cities Fund – a joint venture between Homes England, Legal & General and Muse Developments.

The development includes 33 townhouses with a mix of 2, 3 and 4 bedrooms with private gardens and terraces. It is situated just off Chapel Street, a short walk to Manchester City Centre, Spinningfields, New Bailey, Peel Park and the River Irwell.

The development is named after French Impressionist painter Pierre Adolphe Valette known for his acclaimed paintings of Manchester and Salford. He was a teacher at the Manchester Municipal School of Art and is remembered as L. S. Lowry’s tutor.

Hannan Associates provided Building Services Engineering consultancy for the new homes, including early stage MEP concept design, utility connections & diversions advice, initial Part L1A calculations, renewable energy technologies feasibility review and site inspection duties.

The design of the townhouses’ façade and orientation optimises natural daylighting and reduces the requirement of artificial lighting. Other design features include smart utility metering, occupant controlled zoned heating system, low energy light fittings, improved insulation to minimize heat loss & reduce utility bills and Integrated Virgin Media and BT telecoms infrastructure.

Other members of the team included Buttress Architects, Integra Consulting, Chroma and main contractor John Turner Construction Group.

This is the fourth phase of residential development in the Chapel Street area by the English Cities Fund, which forms part of the wider Salford Central masterplan.  Other schemes include Vimto Gardens, Timekeepers Square and Carpino Place .

Hannan Associates are very proud to have supported clients with the delivery of residential accommodation to the value of around £400M in recent years. Playing a key role in developments for the For Sale, Private Rental, High End, Social and Retirement markets.

Savoy Cinema Comes to Doncaster!

Savoy Cinema Comes to Doncaster!

The six-screen Savoy cinema and five restaurant development at Doncaster’s Civic & Cultural quarter is now complete.

The £8.5m scheme has been developed by Doncaster Council as part of the wider Urban Centre Masterplan helping to revitalise the Waterdale area of Doncaster town centre. Hannan Associates are proud to have been part of the team to bring this new leisure complex to Doncaster, which will contribute towards the ongoing regeneration of this area.

We provided Building Services Engineering and BREEAM assessment for the project and were very pleased to join The Harris Partnership, Rex Procter & Partners, JPG Group and main contractor the Lindum Group on the project team.

Visitors to the new cinema will experience luxury recliner and rocker seating, Vertex viewing with next-generation 4K laser projection and Dolby Atmos immersive sound.

The project has benefited from £635,000 in funding from the Sheffield City Region Local Growth Fund, is one of many projects contributing towards the wider regeneration of Doncaster and it is hoped that this new facility will create over 100 jobs.

Hannan Associates have over 35 years’ commercial & technical experience of Building Services & Utilities Engineering solutions for strategic development schemes focused around urban regeneration and placemaking. These mixed use developments seek to create an established sense of place and identity for areas of our towns & cities which have previously been neglected and underused, turning them into places where people want to live, work and play.

If you would like to speak to us about a future project or just have a general chat please do give a member of our team below a call or email.
