Coed Pella Takes the ‘Regeneration’ Prize

Coed Pella Takes the ‘Regeneration’ Prize

We are very proud to have been MEP Services Engineering Consultants for Coed Pella which won the ‘Regeneration’ category last night at the RICS Awards 2019, Wales.

Andrew Carrington from our team attended the event to support the project and our client Muse Developments: “It has been a privilege to work on such a landmark scheme to provide key regeneration benefits to one of North Wales’ largest towns.”

The building serves as Conwy Borough Council’s new Civic Offices in Colwyn Bay, which was completed in November 2018. We worked alongside AHR Architects, Avid Property Consultants, Capita, Arup & main contractor Bowmer & Kirkland.

“RICS judges said the team behind the project had created a state-of-the-art civic complex, relocating significant numbers of staff, and ultimately helping improve the number of businesses establishing in the town centre, with declining vacancy rates”.

Congratulations to all the winners and those shortlisted on the evening.

Newbury Racecourse Heartspace Redevelopment Complete

Newbury Racecourse Heartspace Redevelopment Complete

Hannan Associates have been part of the team redeveloping Newbury Racecourse since 2010. During this time we have contributed to the design and construction of several new facilities and witnessed first-hand the benefits that these new facilities have provided the racecourse and its visitors.

The redevelopment of the Heartspace is now complete and available for use by racegoers. The Heartspace scheme focused on the redevelopment of the heart of the racecourse, undertaken in phases to ensure racing has been able to continue unaffected.  Phases one and two were completed in Summer 2017 and included the construction of a new Owners Club to provide hospitality space and office accommodation, re-location of the Pre-Parade Ring and Saddling Stalls and a new East Entrance building.  The final phase of works included a new South Entrance building, 2nr. Totes, landscaping and re-modelling of the Parade Ring and Winners Enclosure.

We have acted for Newbury Racecourse as their retained MEP consultants providing Stage 3 Developed Design for each phase and monitoring the construction works on site.  Our appointment also involved utilities infrastructure planning to ensure sufficient utilities were available to suit each phase of the redevelopment which involved close liaison with the contractor to ensure all necessary facilities remained open for racedays.  The Owners Club achieved a BREEAM Excellent rating upon completion and incorporates LZC technologies such as photovoltaic panels and air source heat pumps.

Works will continue at the Racecourse during 2019 – the existing Pall Mall building has been demolished with further construction works intended to improve hospitality offerings to racegoers.

We worked alongside KKA ArchitectureArcadis, and TRP Consulting on the project design team.

Planning Success for Two Cathedral Square Blackburn

Planning Success for Two Cathedral Square Blackburn

Hannan Associates are very pleased to be providing Building Services Design for Blackburn town centre’s major new office development within the Cathedral Quarter regeneration project.

Maple Grove Developments and architects BDP have secured planning permission for the second commercial building at Cathedral Square comprising 30,000 sq ft nett Grade A office space and ground floor level retail space.

This project follows on from the successful development of One Cathedral Square, the 35,000 sq ft office building now owned by L&G Property which has been fully let to Blackburn with Darwen Council. Maple Grove, who are part of the Eric Wright Group, are Blackburn and Darwen Council’s chosen development partner for the Cathedral Quarter regeneration scheme.

Offices, in all forms, have been at the core of our business for over 30 years. Whether it be speculative offices designed to meet basic needs and functions or highly customized office space designed to meet the requirements of a particular end user.  Often these buildings provide us with the opportunity to create innovative and sustainable designs that contribute towards the wider regeneration of our towns and cities.

Our engineers understand what our clients and tenants expect and need from the 21st Century workplace – a building which is more environmentally sustainable, flexible and space & cost efficient.
