The refurbishment and extension of an existing Extra Housing Development in Crewe to create 86 new retirement apartments. The MEP strategy for this development determined by Hannan Associates, was selected to form the benchmark standard for the future Arena Housing retirement villages. Central plant consisting of high efficiency gas fired boilers and a gas fired CHP unit serves all of the apartments via a district heating distribution system. Each apartment has a heat interface unit which is individually metered to enable the occupiers to monitor energy consumption. It has a level 3 sustainable homes rating.
