Coed Pella, Colwyn Bay

PROJECT OVERVIEW

We are very pleased to be providing MEP Design for Conwy County Borough Council’s new Civic Offices.

We are working for Muse Developments who were chosen as preferred development partner during 2015.

This development scheme for the town centre of Colwyn Bay, Wales, will provide new office accommodation and a multi storey car park and redevelop an existing grade II listed civic building to the east of the town. The project will enable the council to operate more efficiently and improve services for customers, by consolidating staff and services into fewer sites.

The new building will achieve a BREEAM rating of Excellent with a minimum A rated Energy Performance Certificate. Passive design measures to reduce carbon emissions and energy consumption include enhanced insulation to the building envelope and engineered facade design. The glazed proportion of the building façade and the central atrium will maximize natural daylight to offset the demand for lighting whilst at the same time high performance glazing will minimize thermal losses. To further reduce carbon emissions and energy consumption, heating and cooling will be via air source heat pumps, highly efficient LED lighting and roof mounted photovoltaic arrays.
